LLECHWEN HALL HOTEL

We are working with Llechwen Hall to establish an apiary for them at their site, and our beekeepers are training their staff.  In return, they are supporting our site through donations towards our running costs and developing our beekeeping projects and also sponsoring our educational resource

NELSON COMMUNITY COUNCIL

The local Nelson Community Council have endorsed our projects and promoted our activities locally, and have provided donations towards our activities, which we have been able to use as match funding in applications to larger organisations, and have also funded projects such as a solar lighting installation for our site shop.

RHYMNEY VALLEY ALLOTMENTS FEDERATION

We are affiliated members of the Rhymney Valley Allotments Federation (RVAF), who provide a collective voice on allotment issues and engage with the local authority and other organisation of behalf of all the allotment sites in the Rhymney Valley.
We have benefitted from being part of their recent Bee Project, which has helped us establish a bee colony and hives on site, and our members have benefitted from bee‐keeping training funded by them.

They also provide funding and governance advice to us, and their wealth of experience is highly valued.

GWENT ASSOCIATION OF VOLUNTARY ORGANISATIONS (GAVO)

GAVO have assisted us in providing advice on funding and links to other partner organisations, and have helped us develop our governance and policies.

LLANCAEACH JUNIOR SCHOOL

Our local Junior School use our site for organised during and after-school activities.  Their Eco‐club use the site regularly, making use of three dedicated raised beds and the Community Polytunnel to grow crops that they use themselves and also provide excess crops to a local Food bank.  The school also has a learning area and shelter.

CAERPHILLY COUNTY BOROUGH COUNCIL

Caerphilly Council are the landlord’s agent for the site. We now operate as a self‐governing organisation and receive no direct funding. Their Allotment Officer, Alun Jones, has been very helpful in helping us plan for developing the site, and in providing ongoing advice and assistance to us.  We are also registering as a food producer for our honey production and thank Stuart Williams, District Environmental Health Officer for his valuable advice and assistance.  We work very closely with Kevin Eadon-Davies from the Rural Development Partnership on a number of bio-diversity projects and events.

WOODFIELDS NURSERY, YSTRAD MYNACH

Woodfields Nursery supplied us with the trees and shrubs for our Pollinator Garden (funded by Natural Buzz). They donated an archway for us on which we have planted a climbing scented Jasmine.

DWR CYMRU / WELSH WATER

Welsh Water in Nelson have helped us out by extending our water supply to reach the polytunnel and school resource, and helping us keep our site tidy.

 

AMEY CONSTRUCTION

Amey, working with Welsh Water, helped us by constructing the base for our Honey Shed.  They also made our polytunnel wheelchair accessible by installing a ramp to the door and paving slabs to the inside.

 

WESTERN POWER DISTRIBUTION

WPD and their contractors have assisted us by building a weatherproof path through the school resource area.

 

BRYN GROUP LIMITED, GELLIGAER

Bryn Group kindly donated over 30 tonnes of topsoil and compost in order that we could fill the raised beds. This was most appreciated as without this donation we would not have been able to open the community beds. Bryn Group also kindly donated materials for our road, making the School and Community areas safely accessible by all.

Randalls Groundworks Limited were kind enough to supply us with the use of a tipper van for us to collect materials that has proved invaluable in getting the community and school areas ready.

R D & M R PARRY (Chemists) Ltd

Parry’s Chemists in Treharris (two outlets) have kindly agreed to stock our honey when in season and sell it to local residents on our behalf.  All proceeds from the sales of the honey go back to supporting our bee projects and other developments on site.

JOE’S FISH BAR, TRELEWIS

Joe’s Fish Bar on Gelligaer Road, Trelewis have kindly agreed to stock our candles to sell on our behalf.   All proceeds from the sales of candles go back to supporting our bee projects and other developments on site.

AWARDS FOR ALL WALES (NATIONAL LOTTERY)

Our Eco friendly composting toilet was provided through a grant from Awards for All Wales.

 

ENVIRONMENT WALES

Environment Wales (funded by Welsh Government) provided funding for us to build our School Resource Area, Raised Beds, Bee Area and initial training for bee‐keeping. This funding has helped us transform our site and add an educational element we never could have provided before.

KEEP WALES TIDY

The funding that kick‐started our developments – the Natural Buzz Scheme funding for Pollinator plants for our Welcome Garden has transformed the entrance to our site.  This garden serves two important purposes – as a welcoming garden at the entrance to our site and also to support pollinators.

A grant from Viridor (Cardiff ERF) provided the funding for our Honey Shed and honey production equipment.

Postcode Local Trust is a grant-giving charity funded entirely by players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

We received funding for Hive Equipment, Waxcrafts equipment and educational materials.
